Our classes were created by Sherry Trowsse, a certified birth & postpartum Doula and a certified Childbirth Educator who currently attends births at Ottawa/Gatineau area hospitals, the Ottawa Birth & Wellness Centre, La Maison de Naissance de Gatineau & homebirths.

Hundreds of local Ottawa families have trusted us to learn how to prepare for birth & caring for their newborn baby since we moved to in-person classes in 2022.

We believe that informed parents make empowered choices, and we're here to help you feel prepared every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer 2 different main classes as well as mini workshops.

    The Prenatal class is designed to prepare you for the end of pregnancy, labour and birth.

    The Newborn care class prepares you for the first 6 weeks with baby.

    Check the description of each class to learn exactly what is covered.

  • Our classes are specifically designed for those who will be giving birth in the Ottawa area since we cover what to expect in local birth locations.

  • We recommend taking the classes between 24 & 36 weeks. You want the information to still be fresh enough to remember but still be comfortable enough to move around in class.

  • Absolutely! Your registration includes a support person, whether that's a partner, family member, or friend, who will be supporting you during labour and birth.

  • Yes! Regardless of your birth plan, we will help you feel more informed and ready for the birth you’d like but also prepared to handle any changes in those plans.

  • Well that depends. You will need to check with your specific insurance on covereage and what they require. If there’s any way we can help, do not hesitate to send us an email.

  • Yes, we talk about both breastfeeding and formula feeding. We believe that how you choose to feed your baby is a personal choice and we support you!

This group class covers what you need to know to be ready for labour, birth and the early days as parents.

Price is per couple (birthing person and 1 support person).

As of March 10th, 2026, all sales are final. There are no refunds on any classes booked. Switching to a different date will incur a $25 fee and is only available if there are still spaces available in another class and is done at least 7 days before your class.

This group class covers what you need to know to be ready for your first weeks as a new parent!

  • Postpartum recovery

Price is per couple (birthing person and 1 support person).

Refunds will be given if cancelled more than 7 days prior to the first course. If cancelled within 7 days of booking a $25 admin fee will be deducted from the refund. If more than 7 days have passed (but not within 7 days of the class) a $50 admin fee will be deducted. Within 7 days of the class, no refund will be given. Classes cannot be moved to a future session.
